Hot Toys Nebula (Endgame) Review

Nebula is one of those comic book characters that I didn’t care all that much for until her introduction within the MCU. I knew her best from Jim Starlin’s Infinity Gauntlet event, and I believe Marvel Studios (and James Gunn specifically) did a great job of adding multiple layers to this character that have allowed Nebula to emerge as one of the most complex and relatable heroes in the entire Marvel Cinematic Universe.

Further credit should of course go to Karen Gillan for bringing Nebula to life and giving her personality. The MCU’s Nebula is bitter, aggressive, driven, damaged, and ultimately admirable, and Gillan has helped make Nebula’s journey from villain to hero one of the better character narratives in the MCU.

I relate to Nebula a lot. In fact, I think anyone that has grown up in a family with siblings and that has wrestled with that awful feeling of believing that your sibling is favored in the eyes of a parent more so than oneself can relate to Nebula. Of course, this was not a matter of self-doubt nor petty jealousy for Nebula; Thanos outright told her and just about anyone else that would listen that Gamora was his favorite daughter. Nebula constantly tried to measure-up to Gamora, but always came up short in her efforts to equal or best her adopted sister, and those feelings of rejection, envy, and jealousy ultimately turned to hate, but eventually turned back around into love.

The Hot Toys Nebula from Avengers: Endgame was the first Nebula figure produced by Hot Toys, and from the moment it was announced, this figure landed on my wanted list. I got her in-hand on Father’s Day in 2021, and Nebula became the landmark 20th figure in my Hot Toys collection.

Nebula’s Hot Toys box is among the most beautiful I have ever seen. The sides and back are bright blue in color and the front of the box features a close-up portrait of the figure with blues and purples and a golden Avengers logo. Nebula’s head sculpt is fantastic. She is bald-headed with a calm expression and Hot Toys did a great job at making her look robotic in the places that she needed to. With her blue skin, maroon Ravager uniform, and cybernetic arm, Nebula added a nice splash of color to my Hot Toys collection which allows her to really stand-out on the shelf!

Nebula was light on accessories. She comes with extra hands, a gun which can be holstered, and two batons with blue effects pieces. I will say that the gun is a major pain to get holstered the way that Hot Toys instructs, but that is the only negative thing I have to say about this figure.

This is pretty much everything one could ever want in a Nebula figure, and as a big fan of the character, I am thrilled to own her as part of my collection!
