The Wakandans and The Fantastic Four Will Return in Avengers: Doomsday

The fourth Teaser Trailer for Avengers: Doomsday was dropped online by Marvel Studios on Tuesday Morning, confirming specifically that Letitia Wright’s Shuri, Winston Duke’s M’Baku, Ebon-Moss Bachrach’s Ben Grimm / The Thing, and Tenoch Huerta’s Namor will return for the film, along with other Wakandans, others from Talokan, and the rest of The Fantastic Four! The announcement followed the online reveals that Chris Evans’ Steve Rogers. Chris Hemsworth’s Thor, and The X-Men would return for the film as well (on December 23, 2025, December 30, 2025, and January 6, 2026, respectively).

Like Chris Hemsworth, Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, and James Marsden, Wright, Duke, Huerta, and Bachrach were all included in the chairs cast reveal in early-2025, so this trailer wasn’t much of a surprise, but it was pretty cool to see Ben Grimm meet Winston Duke! Though Shuri vocally reflects upon her losses, the exchange between Ben and M’Baku feels light-hearted and a little fun, which reminds us that despite the high stakes that this film will surely boast, there will be moments of levity.

I’m looking forward to seeing some follow up on the events and characters that were featured in Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. We haven’t really seen the Wakandans in a live action MCU project in over 3-years and I’m looking forward to seeing more of M’Baku as the King of Wakanda as well as Shuri’s activities as The Black Panther. I’m also very much looking forward to seeing The Fantastic Four mingle with other MCU characters! In the post-credits scene of Thunderbolts* we saw what seemed to be the arrival of The Fantastic Four to Earth-616 from Earth-828, and I assume that the scenes we see in this fourth trailer are set within the 616-Universe.

Though this was for me, the least powerful of the four trailers, it serves as an exciting reminder that for the first time on film, we are going to get The Avengers, The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, and Doctor Doom all together in one movie for the first time in the 28-years that Marvel Studios have been producing movies! It’s a day that every Marvel fan has in some way longed for! The closest to this that we have ever gotten previously was Doctor Strange in The Multiverse of Madness in the all-too-brief sequences set on Earth-838 in which Multiversal Variants of Professor X / Charles Xavier (portrayed by Patrick Stewart) and Reed Richards / Mister Fantastic (portrayed by John Krasinski) shared the screen with the Inhuman King Black Bolt (portrayed by Anson Mount), Maria Rambeau / Captain Marvel (portrayed by Lashana Lynch), Peggy Carter / Captain Carter (portrayed by Hayley Atwell), and Baron Mordo (portrayed by Chiwetel Ejiofor) as members of The Illuminati. The thrill of seeing representatives of The X-Men, The Fantastic Four, and The Inhumans sharing the screen with Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Stephen Strange and Elizabeth Olsen’s Wanda Maximoff was not lost on me, but Avengers; Doomsday is going to take that to a whole new level! Waiting 11 months and 4 days to see this film is going to be a chore!

Avengers: Doomsday will arrive in theaters on December 18, 2026. Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Tenoch Huerta, and Ebon-Moss Bachrach join an already-announced cast that includes Chris Evans (Steve Rogers), Chris Hemsworth (Thor), Anthony Mackie (Sam Wilson), Sebastian Stan (Bucky Barnes), Paul Rudd (Scott Lang), Wyatt Russell (John Walker), Simu Liu (Shang-Chi), Florence Pugh (Yelena Belova), Lewis Pullman (Bob Reynolds), Danny Ramirez (Joaquin Torres), David Harbour (Alexei Shostakov), Hannah John-Kamen (Ava Starr), and Tom Hiddleston (Loki), along with Vanessa Kirby (Susan Storm), Joseph Quinn (Johnny Storm), and Pedro Pascal (Reed Richards), and X-Men film franchise veterans Patrick Stewart (Professor X), Ian McKellen (Magneto), James Marsden (Cyclops), Kelsey Grammer (Beast), Alan Cumming (Nightcrawler), Rebecca Romijn (Mystique), and Channing Tatum (Gambit), and of course, the returning Robert Downey Jr (Doctor Doom).

Avengers: Doomsday will mark Letita Wright’s 5th MCU appearance as Shuri: Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). Avengers: Doomsday will mark Winston Duke’s 5th MCU appearance as M’Baku: Black Panther (2018), Avengers: Infinity War (2018), Avengers: Endgame (2019), and Black Panther: Wakanda Forever (2022). Avengers: Doomsday will mark Tenoch Huerta’s 2nd MCU appearance as Namor: Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. Avengers: Doomsday will mark Ebon-Moss Bachrach’s 2nd MCU appearance as Ben Grimm / The Thing: The Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025). Bachrach also previously portrayed David Lieberman / Micro in Marvel Television’s The Punisher: Season One (2017).
